Poker Questionaire

This is a proposal to all poker bloggers. A while ago, someone posted "50 Things About Me", which led to a slew of copycats. As it turned out, it was a great idea because it allowed a sort of open flow of information and helped me get a better understanding of my fellow bloggers. Let's try a similar idea, my Poker Questionaire:

1. What is your favorite poker game to play? No Limit Texas Hold'Em tournaments

2. What is your favorite non-poker gambling game to play? Craps

3. What is your favorite casino? The Tropicana in Atlantic City

4. What is your favorite online casino/card room? Titan/Noble Poker

4. Who is your top three favorite poker players? Carlos Mortenson, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan

5. What poker player best emulates your style? Mike "the Mouth" Matusow

6. What poker player's style would you most like to have? Carlos Mortenson

7. If you could play poker with any 5 professional poker players, living or dead, who would they be? Carlos, Gus Hansen, Doyle Brunson, Stuey Ungar and Amarillo Slim

8. If you could play poker with any 5 people (who do not play poker professionally), living or dead, who would they be? James Woods, Jesus H. Christ, Martin Luther King, Jr., Snoop Dogg, and Paris Hilton

9. How often do you play poker? Pretty much daily.

10. Which do you prefer: live poker or online poker, and why? Live poker, because there is more interaction between players.

11. Which do you prefer: tournaments or cash games, and why? Tournaments, because I have a clear cut strategy as opposed to my sometimes random cash game play.

11. What is your favorite poker book? The Theory of Poker, by Sklansky

12. Describe the following in one word:

a. Limit Texas Hold'em- Slow-paced

b. No Limit Texas Hold'em- Amped

c. Stud- Oldie

d. Omaha- Ridiculous

e. 5-Card Draw- Classic

f. Crazy Pineapple- Wild

There you have it. This might not be the best questionaire around, and I'm open to additional questions. Feel free to respond in comments or on your blogs.

Thanks for reading.

I’m gonna totally do that questionnaire.

Yeah, I think I may have made a bad selection with Games Grid. I’m about to dump them.

As far as the dealer’s choice table on Games Grid poker – There is no organized selection of the rotation games. In other words, on every single hand, the button gets to choose what they want to play. Every time the button moves, the game changes. The menu of games is:

Limit Hold’em
Limit Stud
Limit Stud high/low split
Limit Omaha
Limit Omaha high/low split
Limit Razz

So you can actually play six different games, in six hands. I found this very odd. Because in live dealer’s choice games, the button chooses the game, and then you play a round (of the button) of that game…When that’s done, the next button gets to chose a round of a game. This makes for smoother transitions for players who have to go from hold’em mode to razz mode or whatever the case may be. The Games Grid ‘switch games every hand’ makes for an awkward and slow pace.

As for NYC tournaments under $100 – I have no doubt that they exist. In fact, I know that some of the places that have been closed recently had NLHE tourneys in the $60 range. I used to get tons of emails from newly opened clubs with tourney schedules, but I haven’t received one since the recent NYPD crackdown. I’ll look into it.
