Calling All Colordans

Hey all. I have to make this short, and a full trip report is coming, but I need to ask the help of the local Coloradan community.

I played at the Gilpin Casino last night and the 2-5 spread limit game was fun, but not profitable. In fact, the fun came from hamming it up and donking around a bit, a fine alternative to good poker if you can afford it.

That said, I am not interested in returning to the 2-5 spread limit scene while I am here. Full details will follow. However, I am interested in the rumored NLHE rooms in the city. I am assuming they are underground, so what I need to know is:

Frankly, even though I couldn't get any traction at the limit game, it was a good experience. It's just not worth the one hour plus drive. So, help a brother out.

Until next time, make mine poker!

That's kind of how I thought the game would go. I don't know much about the underground game. There's some Colorado forum that Mondo knows about that might list an underground game if you can reach him somehow by commenting on his blog.

I don't know of any Friday Afternoon games in Denver!! I do know of few clubs up in Ft. Collins that are probably kicking at that time. (I am few years removed from that game though.)

You might wanna try the Toad Tavern in Denver. They apparently are allowed to spread a NL game, because of some granfathered law/loophole. I have never played it myself, but apparently its a good, legit game.

Other than that, I play at a card club on the weekends. It would be pretty tough to get you in without invite.

Hope you got back from the wedding happy or at least alcoholed up so you didn't have to care.

Wish you were at Okie - Vegas, we'll see you next year!

Hey there, pipedream at www.sittingtheapple.com and I play regularly in Denver. The Toad has a license to spread poker as a social club, as long as the players have a relationship outside the game.

An older crowd used to play but that game stopped a few years ago. I started a free tournament there on monday nights about five years ago, and after I quit they started spreading real money poker. The guys who run it are Bill and Paul, I would be happy to discuss this game, you can email me at JML80125 at aol dot com.

This game is legit and legal because they don't take a rake. They have had problems with randoms showing up, and depending on the night you might be able to sneak in under the radar, but if you want to play in this game you need to know someone. I would be happy to introduce you to this game. $.50/$1.00 NL M-T-W, mixed games on sunday nights. The game plays like a $2-$4 game most nights.

Sorry I am leaving this comment a few days late. Again, feel free to contact me if you'll be back.

J

I know of another $1-$2 game
